New What'sBest! 9.0

Faster, More Powerful Solvers and Added Support for Excel® 2007, and Microsoft® Vista®

What’sBest! 9.0, a new release of our Solver add-in for Excel, is faster and more powerful and adds support for the recently released Microsoft® Office 2007, and Microsoft® Vista®.

What’sBest! 9.0 is an average of 80% faster at solving linear models due to enhancements to the Dual and Primal Simplex solvers. The Barrier solver is an average of 20% faster on large scale linear and quadratic models. Enhancements to the Simplex and Barrier solvers also improve handling of numerically difficult problems.

The Integer solver is an average of 40% faster on a wide range of integer models. It also includes a number of enhancements to more quickly find and improve integer solutions and to better exploit a wider range of problem structures.

The general Nonlinear Solver is an average of 25% faster on highly nonlinear and complex models. The Global solver includes a number of enhancements for improving robustness on solving nonconvex nonlinear models to global optimality.

Release 9.0 has expanded support to include the recently released Microsoft Office Excel® 2007 in addition to support for Excel® 2003.

Function support has been greatly expanded with the new release. The new release adds support for all native Excel functions as well as user defined functions in Excel®. Also new is the support of functions using text strings as arguments.
