In a staff scheduling model, or covering model, there is demand for staffing over a time horizon. The goal is to come up with a work schedule that meets staffing demands at minimal cost. This example of a staff scheduling model assigns start days to employees to cover staffing needs, minimizing the total number of staff, subject to the requirement that each staff member must have two consecutive days off each week.
